Bob Moline, artist & saddle maker

Bob spent time in West Texas and his early years were spent with horses at race tracks. This experience had a profound influence on Bob's life. Ranch work allowed him to be a hands on observer of horses, cattle and the cowboy's life style. The experience of 14 years at Wendy Ryans as a Saddle Maker and Shop Forman enabled Bob to become a master saddle maker. This combined background gives his work a rare dimension seldom seen in today's saddle making.

Through his life, Bob has learned to respect the cultural, and traditions of the cowboy as well as his own heritage, a Native American. As a result of this outlook, Bob Moline has become a rare combination of artist, saddle maker, and sculptor.

Recently, Bob has been featured in several magazines: Western Horseman, Paint Horse Journal, and  Cattleman's magazine. His artwork was used for the coffee table books, “ XIT” and "The American Cowboy".
Bob recently completed a poster for the Cowboy Hall of Fame commemorating Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys and also for the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. Bob's paintings have won numerous awards.

Chasing the Dream!
I studied painting and drawing as an undergrad at the school of the Art Institute of Chicago. After moving West,  I studied under several famous contemporary Western artists:  John Coleman, W.S. Jennings, Mehl Lawson, John and Terri Moyers, Ralph Oberg, Matt Smith and Curt Walters.

A Dream Come True.
As a member of the Oil Painters of America, voted “Favorite Artist” by the Sonoran Arts League
“Peoples Choice” award, selected as “Best and Brightest” from the Scottsdale Artist School, and voted
Best Oil Painter by the Attendees of the Sonoran Festival of the Arts, I have become an accomplished
and popular working artist.  I use Native American models in authentic historical regalia to pose for paintings at the Little Big Horn River in Montana.  I was one of the 50 artists selected to participate in the Artist Ride held at the Shearer Ranch in South Dakota.  Art collectors nationwide have purchased my paintings and others have commissioned special paintings for their private collections.  Inspiration for painting comes from the Western Landscape and the people, animals, and spirits who are a part of that landscape.  I have a keen interest in the history of Native Americans and of their present culture.

Living the Dream.
Some kids wanted to be cowboys or fireman – I always wanted to be an artist.    Now the Dream is real!!  I live and paint in the West creating the spirit of the American West with paintings of cowboys, Native Americans, horses and cattle.   Art transforms and enriches people’s lives.  I want to share with the viewer through my paintings, the beauty and power of the American West.

Keep following your DREAMS.
I am an artist who as a small child, growing up in Northwest Indiana, dreamed and drew pictures of the Southwest.  I could only imagine what the Southwest looked like, because my reality was steel mills, refineries, flat land and gray skies.
